Our New Year update
We shook off the old year and begun the new year with fireworks. On Boxing day we got our last grant of the 2022. A spouse visa, what a Christmas present. The following week a visa we had waited for over a year (conversion of fiancee to spouse) was granted. We were absolutely delighted. Moving forward our First Friday clinic is February 3rd, 2023. This is a free clinic, if you need free advice the sessions are for 20 minutes and are online. We can only run these sessions once a month because we are not funded for this work. The booking method is using our scheduler click here to access this. Also we will begin working with the Local Authority on a Homelessness Advice Project, the commencement date was 1 January 2023 - we are currently organising our platforms to deal with this vulnerable group. The first sessions are planned for 8th and 9th February 2023 and then will be scheduled thereafter on each Wednesday and Thursday until the end of March 2024. Lots happening here. A radio station created by one of our staff members will also begin broadcasting by the end of February. The radio venture is not affiliated to Lawson Hunte but we believe lots of great news will be coming out of it, so watch this space. We are signing off now until our next update. Todays question was about domestic violence to partners of skilled workers. Sorry to say the Domestic Violence rule does not cover skilled workers. The rational probably is that the skilled work visa is a temporary visa allowing residence in exchange for work. The partner of permanent residents route is much different there is permanence in the equations and this allows for relief in situations where there is domestic abuse. My answer is regrettably, if you leave your marriage as a skilled worker for a domestic abuse reason, then unless you have an alternative reason to apply to remain in the UK - you should consider leaving to resume your life in the last country you lived in or otherwise your country of origin.
This is not as tricky as it sounds, what you need know first of all is whether you meet the financial requirement with demonstrable earning of £29.000 in the year of the application. Therefore if you have had more than one job, it can be the cumulative amount that count towards the relevant figure. The UKVI require evidence of the work you are undertaking such as contracts, pay remits, bank statements and other documents that show you are in genuine employment. It is open to them to make checks to verify information you choose to submit.
